  • Adjusting with new career and life

This is exactly my third week in this new place, and I've been through quite a lot I would say.  I came to this place to start my career and did put up a lot of efforts and prayers before I got this job. I am a trolley - dolly girl. Currently under training and graduating in 3 months time'. I love this place as things are so well organized and the cleanliness and fresh weather is something I had been looking for.

I'd always thought my 5 years life in Medan was an independence life but hey, I found out there's a big challenge in this new place. With what I am going through everyday, I feel like the past 5 years was nothing compared to now.

Truth to tell, I am still adjusting myself to the new environment, the commute, the people, the food, the rules and regulations,etc.etc. Thinking of me coming from a country where money plays an important role and now everything is ruled by the government. I am not trying to say bad thing about my country albeit in fact I am comparing these two different countries / places.

My first week was all okay until I lost my valuables last week and it totally screwed things up. Deep inside me, I have this anger towards myself but I am learning to let it go. I do feel that God is really testing my faith to HIM.

Besides, to get along well with each other at work is not an easy thing to do. Some people just tend to be center of attention and I mean it. I don't need to like everybody in order to survive in this place, right?

  • I'm out of it

First of all,I am taking some time off from one who cares about me and is close with me. I wanna test if my feelings to him are right.

Second of all, I had a bit too much last Saturday night. I partied with some ex-hotelier colleagues and it didn't end really well. I didn't even remember half of what happened that night. Too much drink and too much mixture. Vodka on the rock & whiskey on the rock, they make me sick. I promised myself not to touch those alcoholic drinks anymore. I am out of it.

  • Enjoyment

I finished my contract with the Aston Hotel 2 months ago and the HR wanted to continue my contract, but I cut it off because I applied for another job which is giving me a more promising future. Yes, I did apply for Singapore Airlines again. I don't get discouraged easily, though I was booted out in the first round of the interview in April, I came back in June and thanks God, with all the efforts I put in and I am sure it's HIS plan, I passed the test as well as the final round.

I did my medical check-up a month ago and haven't been informed about the results up to today. According to the airlines, we would be called up for another medical check- up if we do not pass the medical requirements, however, if we are not asked to come back to the clinic, that means we are waiting for our work visa and be prepared to get a call to fly to SG to start our training.I don't know what's gonna happen with me though. Let's just pray for the best!

I was jobless for a few days after I quit from Aston and my final interview with the airlines, but my ex boss who is also my friend, wanted me to work for the school he runs. FYI. I did work for him back in 2005 for 3 years. I quit to pursue my career life in hotel industry. So, I started working again for the school in late August and time flies, it's almost end of September already.

My first project was to create questions for quizzes for high school levels and currently I am working on the English Premier Cup (EPC) 2010 & Education Expo which will be held a week before Halloween. It's a lot of fun to run around the town looking for sponsorship partners as well as visiting schools to encourage the students to join the competition.

A brief description on the competition is that students are competing in pairs, I know for all this time they may be lack of confidence when competing individually. Students will be seated for a-30-minute-written test and next is Talk Show Challenge, last but not least is Brain Challenge. We are also doing SMS Polling for the Talk Show Challenge - supported by Axis (one of the telecommunication provider in Indonesia) to choose their favorite team. I would definitely join this competition if I were still in high school. Organizing this competition is a true reminiscence to me of my high school life. I used to travel all the way to the capital of my province even the capital of Indonesia to compete with other students, my favorite one is English News Reading and Speech Competition. Good times!!

Tony, if you're reading this, I want you to know that I am enjoying my current job very much! Thanks for the opportunity and acknowledgement on my work.cool

For you who currently have a job, do you enjoy your job or it's just a way of killing the time?

  • Baby Monica's Birthday Bash

    With the Birthday Girl
That was me, Leli and the birthday girl - Baby

Apri 15,2010 at New York & California Function Rooms - JW Marriott Medan, Baby Monica, one of my language students held her sweet 17 birthday bash.
I was invited and ended up going to Baby's birthday with some other teachers from the language school. It was cool, but I somehow felt out of place, since 95% were teenagers (15-18) and I don't belong to their group. I am not saying I am old, but you guys know what I mean,no?

This was one of the games by Jonson Lim, the Master of Ceremony on that beautiful night of BM's. 3 pairs of dudes, one who stood behind their pair had to do all the work told by Jonson Lim.
My good friend's brother had to do the following things:

Taking off his friend's watch, vest, socks, shoes, and belt.

Another game is called "Make - up while being blind folded". I missed the pictures but it was great deal of fun watching them make-uping their partner while being blind - folded. Haha..

    Game

I was only there for like 2 hours and left earlier than anyone else did.

My question is : Would you feel out of place if you're attending a party where your age doesn't belong to that group? ♥

  • Getaway Trip on Good Friday

The Ts had this idea to go to Brastagi on Good Friday, just for the sake of thr public holiday.
The former plan was to feel the fresh air and just chillin out and swimming as we don't get fresh air in Medan.
We also talked about setting off at 6AM and do jogging when we get there, it's a-2-hour-ride from Medan.
Guess what? They cane and picked me up at 7AM and instead we headed to Haranggaol which is another 2 hours ride from Brastagi and it's all winding road, I couldn't take it.
I was a sleepy head, I got in the car slept the whole trip, got off, ate and repeated the same thing.
